Purple Moor-grass and Rush Pasture


These are wet meadows or pastures containing a species-rich mixture of grasses (especially purple moor grass Molinia caerula), sedges, herbs and mosses. This type of habitat is extremely rare in the Yorkshire Dales National Park occurring in one or two locations in the limestone country. Purple moor grass and rush pasture is of high biodiversity importance in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
