These pages include details of 18 of the best places to see wildlife in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, from  waterfalls to woodlands and red squirrels to species-rich wildflower meadows. Most of the sites are Special Sites of Scientific Interest (SSSIs) designated for their nationally important habitats and species. Why not use the drop down menu and interactive map to find a site quickly and easily and then have the facts at your fingertips.

The information includes what to look out for as well as a map grid reference, footpaths, car parking, public transport and facilities.  They are illustrated with stunning images and there are downloads and related links in case you want to find out more. In the future we would also like to include a local group directory, making it easy for you to get involved in nature in the Dales.
