Cotter Force

Cotter Force, west of Hawes, is a secluded series of waterfalls in woodland on Cotterdale Beck, a tributary of the River Ure in Wensleydale. It is easily accessible along a stile free public right of way and is also suitable for wheelchairs. It is an ideal place to see a variety of bird species including dippers, grey wagtails, kingfishers and redstarts. Buzzards may also be seen flying overhead. The National Park Authority continues to work closely with the landowner to improve access to the waterfall. Please keep to the public footpath and avoid the adjacent hay meadows.
